Hello from the other side....of the United States

I like to think I have always had a sense of adventure, but I've pretty much lived in the same area my whole life. I was born in New York, raised in New Jersey and went to college in Connecticut. I have visited several countries but for no more than two weeks then it was back home.

When we were first engaged I had made the decision to move to Colorado....in two weeks. Was it a mildly insane undertaking? Sure. I had interviewed for jobs but did not hear that I was employed until the day I left to road trip across the United States. Even then I didn't know ANYTHING about life outside of the New York metropolitan area.

I would be lying if I said the first few months were not all that great. Turns out I hate change more than I realized. I would drive around my new town wondering what possibly made me think it was okay for me to move out here. Sure, the love of my life was out here...but was is it. I had no friends yet, no knowledge of where I was living and no where near family.

I had to take a step back and realize that I am doing something I have always wanted to do. I told myself seven years prior that my dream was to move Colorado. I thought a dream was all it would ever be. That dream became a reality, a reality that I am so happy happened to me. I have seen the most breathtaking views of this state, met great people and learned a lot about myself.

Being that Brandon is in the Army, I know that Colorado living won't last forever, so I will soak up every minute! I never thought I would have the guts to move away and start a new life. The longing to be with my family and friends still lingers, but the mountain views and adventure make it all worth it.
